In his “Wilde Strippen ”, Piet Stockmans uses the whiteness of kaolin–the white clay–to make the cobalt blue vibrate, unenamelled to bring out the surface luminosity, the delicate aspect of the porcelain. The blue combined with the whiteness, in a biscuit – soft or hard porcelain, accentuate the three-dimensional quality of his ceramic decoration.“Rencontre des Vagues” is a large scale glazed ceramic vase, with never-before-seen glazing, which is emblematic of Bela Silva’s universe. Constantly drawn to the richness of oriental elements, Bela Silva disorients viewers with her phantasmagorical shapes, which create an ambiance of splendor and light.
